Facilitation

I BELIEVE FACILITATION CAN CHANGE THE WORLD

I'm an educator, and more specifically a facilitator. I believe in the power and knowledge of the group. To think, to wonder, to be curious, to question, to engage. To discuss, disagree, and learn. So much of DEI and social justice work is about raising our awareness to the current realities and practicing skills to forge better, stronger, and more just relationships.

An unjust society pulls us apart, this work is about coming back together.

WORKSHOPS & TRAININGS

Emergent Social Justice and DEI Workshops

Has your group been having conversations about DEI and social justice but you're night quite sure what the next right step is?

You're considering bringing in an expert, but you're not sure what they should even focus on. Or perhaps you know your group needs to have this important conversation but you're not sure where to start.

Emergent workshops allow the group to identify what they most need and want to focus on in the moment. No need to predict what is necessary, the first section of the workshop is all about having the group identify their own needs and wants and letting that set the agenda for the rest of the time together.

Facilitating DEI & Social Justice Conversations

This workshop is for those who are wanting to to increase their capacities to facilitate DEI and social justice conversations or educational experiences.

How do we make those opportunities places where people can exploration, learn, and grow?
How do we give people permission to say things they aren't sure about? To process aloud questions that may be uncomfortable.

Whether you've been facilitating for a long time or are just stepping into the role, this workshop will increase your capacity to do so with grace for your participants and for yourself.

Train-the-Trainer Programs

If you want to have your staff be able to run trainings internally, this can help you get there.

Working with an existing curriculum or creating one from scratch, this offering is about solidifying a workshop curriculum that accomplishes your goals and then helping you prepare your staff with the capacities and understandings they need to lead workshops internally in the future.

Train-the-trainer programs t
ypically culminate in a 2-3 day training where your participants learn the curriculum and practice the skills and awareness necessary to deliver the training.

SOCIAL JUSTCE / DEI COACHING
& CONSULTING

Sometimes you want to explore these questions of DEI and social justice in conversation with another person. Or you want to have someone weigh in on your plans, your curriculum, your trainings, your ideas.

That’s what I love to do.

Questions I've worked with folks on have included:
  • How do we create a more inclusive and affirming workplace when we’ve never done this before? (And how do we do that being a mostly white-male organization?
  • How do we implement SJ/DEI training within organization and what do we need to do to make that successful?
  • How can we prepare our people to run in-house DEI programming?
  • What are all these conversations about privilege and identity are all about (and what do they have to do with me?!)
  • How do I bring conversations like this up in my community without people feeling like I'm accusing them of being racist/sexist/homophobic? How do I do this without people getting defensive?
